Scarypoolparty, the rising singer-songwriter from Pomona, Calif., premiered a music video for the acoustic version of his single "10 Years." He revisits the song that was part of his set on American Idol in a haunting new performance.
Alejandro Aranda, who is professionally known as Scarypoolparty, rose to prominence last year on the seventeenth (wow!) season of American Idol. He was remarkable at the time for performing more of his own compositions in the competition rather than covering other artists' songs. One of his tunes that captured the hearts of millions in the country and the show's judges was "10 Years." Even though Scarypoolparty went on to place in second, he's become one of American Idol's biggest stars from the recent seasons.
"10 Years" was also included on Scarypoolparty's stunning debut album Exit Form that dropped last November. In a nod to his time on American Idol and his recent record, he released a new live version of the song in a black-and-white video. Like we saw previously saw on TV, this shows Scarypoolparty's raw and riveting talent at work and that there's no studio smoke and mirrors involved. It's a chilling clip in all the best ways.
Scarypoolparty was able to wrap up a sold-out headlining tour in the U.S. last year along with a few stops at festivals like Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Life is Beautiful. He had a few shows planned for the U.K. this year that were sidelined to 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus (or COVID-19) pandemic.
