Listen: The Weekend goes numb on new single 'Heartless'

The Weeknd returned this week with his new single "Heartless." The R&B singer-songwriter is back on his bullshit and about that destructive life once again.

"Heartless" is The Weeknd's first new single since last year's My Dear Melancholy. EP. Whereas that EP saw him regressing to his old ways after feeling brokenhearted from his split with Selena Gomez, he goes numb and sheds any semblance of feelings on "Heartless." Trap beats courtesy of producer Metro Boomin back The Weeknd basking in that toxic life that put him on the map at the start of the decade. "All this money and this pain got me heartless," he sings. "Low life for life 'cause I'm heartless." After orbiting pop star territory for a few years, The Weeknd crashes down to earth and willfully his fate on this monster of a banger.

Earlier this week, The Weekend was spotted filming a music video on Fremont Street in Las Vegas. The blurry cover art shows him in front of the bright lights on the strip. There will be more music coming from The Weeknd this week when he premieres his other new single "Blinding Lights" on Nov. 29. There's no word yet when to expect his upcoming fourth studio album.
