Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny paid tribute to the late NBA great Kobe Bryant with his new song "6 Rings." El Conejo Malo raps about the legacy Bryant leaves behind.
On Jan. 26, Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif. The tragic news not only rocked L.A., where Kobe became a legend as part of the Lakers basketball team, but the world. In an emotional Instagram post that day, Bad Bunny wrote, "I've never mentioned it because it doesn't necessarily have to do with music, but this man has been an inspiration in many aspects for me to be who I am today."
On Tuesday morning, Bad Bunny further paid his respects to Bryant with the song "6 Rings" on SoundCloud. The title is a reference to Kobe's five championship rings with the Lakers and his wedding with his wife Vanessa Bryant. On the Latin trap track, Bad Bunny raps in Spanish, "You taught me everything in life is done with passion and to win you have to have heart." His two-minute freestyle ends with the sweet shout out: "Black Mamba forever."
Bad Bunny has shown his love for Bryant in the past, rocking a Lakers No. 8 jersey at one of his concerts in L.A. He was recently nominated for a Grammy for his debut album, 2018's X 100pre, and his collaborative Oasis album with Colombian reggaetonero J Balvin.
R.I.P. to Bryant, his daughter, and people who were with them that day.
